NATO Force Integration Unit Bulgaria (NFIU BGR), one of the subordinated units of Headquarters Multinational Division South-East, completed its recertification process, proving its capability to ensure and facilitate the rapid reception of NATO incoming high readiness troops.
It was a highly intensive evaluation period, concluded successfully.
The evaluation team was comprised of Bulgarian Ministry of Defense’s subject matter experts from different domains. On behalf of SACEUR, there were NATO’s monitors from the higher echelon, Headquarters Multinational Division South-East from Bucharest, Romania. HQ MND-SE`s delegation was led by colonel Konstantinos Kokkonas.
The evaluation team checked NFIU BGR’s capabilities, which were demonstrated while supporting the USAREUR’s exercise Saber Guardian 2019. During the recertification ceremony, the chief of the evaluation team, Colonel Daniel Spasov and NATO’s monitor, colonel Konstantinos Kokkonas signed the evaluation report and congratulated all the personnel of NATO Force Integration Unit Bulgaria for their efforts, professionalism and dedication.
The recertification process is a comprehensive periodical assessment of NFIU BGR’s capabilities and it is conducted every three years. NFIU BGR was officially activated on the 03rd of September 2015.
