Headquarters Multinational Division South-East is taking part at Exercise SABER GUARDIAN 2019, an international military drills, co-led by Romanian Land Forces and U.S. Army Europeat various locations in Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania.

The exercise started on 3rd of June and will last until June 24.

Nearly 8,000 soldiers from Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Romania and the US are participating. The opening ceremonies were held simultaneously in five different military training grounds across Romania: Cincu, Babadag, Bordușani, Smârdan and Râșnov.

Headquarters Multinational Division South-East hosted the opening ceremony at its barracks on 3rd of June. HQ MND-SEdemonstrates, through its participation to #SaberGuardian19, its willingness to support NATO’s role in its defence and deterrence posture.

Among the many different training events at SG19, there will be vehicle road marches, a medical exercise, multiple river crossings and an air assault.

The exercise aims to “emphasize cohesion, unity and solidarity of the partner and allied states with a view of defending themselves against any type of aggression, especially by a rapid mobilization and concentration of forces in a short time, anywhere in Europe,” said the Romanian Ministry of National Defense.

SG19 is designed to improve the integration of multinational combat forces and to demonstrate the unity and interoperability of allies.
